The chiffon cake is a sponge cake made with a base of wheat flour, baking powder, eggs, and orange juice, resulting in a soft, airy, refreshing, and delicious cake.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of wheat flour
  • 150 ml of orange juice
  • 8 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • ½ cup of oil
  • ½ cup of sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) for at least 10 minutes. In a large bowl, combine the sifted flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix with a wooden spoon, then add the sugar and oil, and integrate until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.
  2. Add the vanilla extract, the 8 egg yolks, and mix again. Gradually incorporate the orange juice, mixing each time until you achieve a uniform texture.
  3. Beat the 8 egg whites until stiff peaks form and gently fold them into the batter using folding motions. Pour the batter into a greased pan and bake for about 60 minutes. Remove, let cool, and loosen the edges with a long knife. Invert onto a wide plate and optionally dust with powdered sugar.
